Here we are in April. April guys! This year seems to be going fast. I’m ok with that cause I’m closer to being finished with chemo treatment. I’m at the half way mark actually. Yay!

I’ve done rather well too. All things considered. Wait! Forgot to tell you that I got shingles. Yes, SHINGLES! Something this gal honestly didn’t know much about. Or maybe I just thought of it like something that existed 300 years ago, in Europe. Yes, I can be a bit ignorant. I can admit that.

But hey it’s all about learning, right? Right! And wow oh wow have I learned. Learned that shingles very much exists today. And that there’s a vaccine for it too. As well as that those who are more susceptible to it are those who are going through cancer treatment as their immune system is weakened. Honestly, I wished my doctor would have advised me on this but at the same time maybe I should have done my own research. No, scratch that. I wish my doctor (who I really like a lot) would have maybe I don’t know like brought it up. He said that in his over 20+ years in his field he has only come across maybe five ovarian cancer patients that got shingles. I guess because of that he didn’t think it important to bring up. But that is still five women who got it and thus I feel it would have been nice to have been told that the possibility is there.

Cause let me tell you that if I had known of the possibility, I would have gotten the vaccine right when I turned 50 — as that’s when it’s recommended to get it. For I would not have wanted to go through what I went through and still am going through. The shingles are HORRIBLE! I’m talking pain up there with as bad as pain that can come from cancer treatment. No joke! No fuc@ing joke!

Seriously, I would not wish them on anyone. Ok, with the exception of serial killers and rapist and child molesters and pedophiles that is.

Suffice it to say, going through chemo and shingles, simultaneously, is not something I recommend. So, if you are 50 and up (even if you are not going through cancer treatment) and have had the chicken pox, consider getting the vaccine for shingles. [Note: Apparently, if you’ve never had the chicken pox you most likely will never get shingles. Lucky you. And I do mean, lucky lucky lucky you.]

Alright, so outside of getting shingles the chemo treatments have gone well. My body is accepting the treatment. Now, I do have to deal with side effects like: nausea, fatigue, bone and joint pain, constipation, mad mouth sores and overall mouth pain that big time includes my tongue. But by the grace of God I’m doing alright. Some days I’m overwhelmed by it (how I’m doing), in the best possible way. 😊

I apologize for not letting y’all know how I’ve been doing before now. I’ve been a bit distracted BUT that’s no excuse really as I’ve been able to keep up with my podcast. You do know about my podcast right? I am sure I shared the link but if not I’ll do so down below. 👇🏾😉🎤🎧

I’m going to try and do my writing. With blogs as well as with the book about my life in Saudi. I need to stop procrastinating. Like seriously! And I aim to finish that book and my sequel to HOPE through cancer. And btw if you want a copy of that all you have to do is send me a message here and we can get it done. They go for $10 (plus a few extra bucks for shipping) and I will mail it to you the same day or the next day. I’m hoping to get a website where people can buy a copy right from the site. Once I do I’ll write a blog about it and share the link. 👍🏽

That’s all I have for today’s blog. Plesee come back for me soon as more blogs will come.

Hope y’all are staying safe and keeping healthy. 😷👍🏾
